Dhami Cabinet Approves 10 Key Decisions; Medical Intern Stipend Hiked to ₹25,000
Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, held a meeting at the Uttarakhand Secretariat on Friday and approved 10 important proposals concerning various departments.
Among the major decisions, the Cabinet approved an increase in the monthly stipend of medical interns at five government medical colleges from ₹17,000 to ₹25,000. The decision will provide an additional ₹8,000 per month to medical interns undergoing training at the state’s government medical colleges.
The Cabinet also approved the revision of fee rates and an increase in the honorarium of government advocates appearing before the Supreme Court, High Court and subordinate courts.
245 Posts Approved for Medal-Winning Athletes
In a significant decision for the sports sector, the Cabinet approved a proposal to provide government employment to medal-winning athletes under the Uttarakhand Sports Policy-2021.
Under the decision, international and national-level medal-winning sportspersons will be appointed against 245 posts in various departments, including Youth Welfare, Transport and Education.
In addition, 33 posts of Additional Assistant Exercise have been created, which will be reserved for medal-winning athletes. The move is aimed at providing employment opportunities to outstanding sportspersons while encouraging sporting excellence in the state.
‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17
The Cabinet also approved the organisation of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 across Uttarakhand.
Various programmes will be organised throughout the state as part of the campaign. Ministers and in-charge ministers will also participate in the programmes.
Other Major Cabinet Decisions
The Cabinet approved the following proposals as well:
- The Annual Report of the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission was approved for being laid on the floor of the State Legislative Assembly.
- Approval was given to include one post of Additional Inspector General of Prisons in the cadre structure under the Uttarakhand Prisons Service Rules.
- The fee rates for government advocates will be revised, with an increase in the honorarium of advocates appearing before the Supreme Court, High Court and subordinate courts.
- Amendments to the Service Rules of the Legal Metrology Department were approved.
- The monthly stipend of medical interns at five government medical colleges was increased from ₹17,000 to ₹25,000.
- 33 posts of Additional Assistant Exercise were created and will be reserved for medal-winning athletes.
- Under the Sports Policy-2021, a proposal to appoint international and national medal-winning athletes against 245 government posts was approved. Appointments will be made in departments including Youth Welfare, Transport and Education.
- Approval was given to provide 972 square yards of land from the GMVN parking area in Mussoorie to Garhwal Sabha.
- The Cabinet approved the proposal to provide 15 acres of land at Salempur, near the existing Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Directorate land in Haridwar, for an ESIC hospital.
- The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will be organised from September 17 to October 17, with programmes to be held across the state and participation from ministers and in-charge ministers.
Focus on Medical Education and Sports Employment
The Cabinet decisions are particularly significant for the medical education and sports sectors. The increase in the stipend of medical interns is expected to provide financial relief to students undergoing practical training at government medical colleges.
At the same time, the creation and allocation of government posts for medal-winning athletes is expected to strengthen the implementation of the state’s sports policy by linking sporting achievements with employment opportunities.
