Chief Minister’s instructions to conduct intensive checking campaign on mountain routes.
Haldwani: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Haldwani on Thursday for a one-day program. First of all, he visited to Sushila Tiwari Hospital to check on the condition of injured passengers of the bus accident in Bhimtal on Wednesday. During this, CM Dhami instructed the hospital administration to provide better treatment. Along with this, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat was also instructed to conduct intensive checking campaign in mountainous areas to prevent road accidents.
On this occasion, CM Dhami expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured. He assured that all possible help will be given to the injured. He also met the families of the injured and also directed to refer the seriously injured people to higher centers as per requirement.
It is being told that the bus fell into a ravine while trying to avoid a car. The driver and conductor also sustained serious injuries in the accident.
The Chief Minister said that to prevent such road accidents, intensive checking campaign will be conducted to check the licenses and other documents of vehicles coming from other states. Also, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat has been given the responsibility to control the traffic.
It may be recalled that the accident occurred when an Uttarakhand Transport Corporation bus, travelling from Pithoragarh to Haldwani, fell into a 200 metro ravine near Saldi in Bhimtal. There were 29 passengers in the bus. 5 people are reported dead and 24 injured in the bus accident. Two seriously injured were shifted to AIIMS Rishikesh via heli ambulance. While other injured are being treated at STH in Haldwani.
The government announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each, to the families of the deceased and Rs 3 lakhs to seriously injured. In addition, financial assistance of Rs 15- ₹ 25 thousand was also announced for those with lesser injuries.
