Dehradun: With registrations for the Char Dham Yatra surpassing 25 lakh, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that the safety and convenience of devotees undertaking the sacred pilgrimage remains the topmost priority of the Uttarakhand government.
CM Dhami is scheduled to chair a crucial meeting with the administration tomorrow—his third high-level review—focused on strengthening preparations and finalizing a concrete strategy to ensure smooth and safe arrangements for the Yatra. Special instructions will be issued to key departments, including Transport and Police, to manage the challenges anticipated in the initial phase of the pilgrimage.
Speaking at a “Musical Sunderkand Paath” organized by the Uttarakhand Seva Samiti at Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, the Chief Minister addressed a large gathering of devotees and underlined the state’s unwavering commitment to facilitating a safe and fulfilling journey for all pilgrims to the four Dhams—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
Reflecting on the resilience shown in the past, CM Dhami recalled the devastating floods of 2013 that severely damaged the Kedarnath Dham complex. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s continued guidance since 2014 for the extensive reconstruction and development works that have transformed the holy shrine.
The Chief Minister also mentioned last year’s challenges in the Kedar Valley, where roads and bridges were damaged at 29 locations. However, timely government intervention ensured that all devotees were kept safe. “We acted on a war footing for 35 days and successfully resumed the Yatra in its second phase. Devotees from across the globe appreciated our efforts,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s forward-thinking approach, CM Dhami announced the launch of the Winter Char Dham Yatra from this year, inspired by PM Modi’s vision. “Now, Char Dham Yatra will continue for all 12 months, further enhancing Uttarakhand’s cultural, tourism, and economic landscape,” he added.
The event at Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple saw the presence of officials from the temple committee, members of the Uttarakhand Seva Samiti, saints, and a large number of devotees.
