Chardham Yatra is the Lifeline of Uttarakhand: CM Dhami at Dharma Sansad

Tehri: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday addressed the Dharma Sansad organized by Aaj Tak at Aastha Path, Muni Ki Reti, in Tehri district. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister emphasized the significance of the Chardham Yatra, calling it the “lifeline of Uttarakhand,” and noted that lakhs of devotees undertake this sacred journey each year. He assured that the state government has made every possible effort to ensure the yatra remains safe, well-organized, and smooth.

Highlighting the contributions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dhami said the PM holds a deep affection for Uttarakhand. Under his leadership, major development projects like the Badrinath Dham Master Plan, the reconstruction of Kedarnath Dham, and the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line are progressing rapidly. The Chief Minister also recalled Modi’s visit to the border village of Mana in Chamoli, where he declared that every border village should be considered the “first village of the country.” From there, the PM also appealed to tourists to allocate at least 5% of their spending towards purchasing local products. Notably, Modi is the first Prime Minister to have spent a night in Kedarnath.

Dhami also shared that Uttarakhand has initiated winter tourism, encouraging year-round travel to the region. The Prime Minister, during his visit to Uttarkashi, supported the idea, stating that every corner of Uttarakhand is a unique destination in itself.

Condemning the recent terrorist attack on civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Dhami labeled it a cowardly act and affirmed that the Indian Army will respond strongly.

Addressing other key issues, the Chief Minister spoke about the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), comparing it to the holy river Ganga, which brings life and prosperity to all. He expressed confidence that the UCC would be equally beneficial for all citizens. Dhami also highlighted the state’s strict anti-cheating law, under which more than 22,000 youth have secured government jobs in the past three years.

Concluding his address, Dhami reiterated the spiritual and religious significance of the Chardham Yatra and urged all pilgrims to respect its sanctity by following the prescribed guidelines. He extended a warm invitation to devotees across the country to visit Uttarakhand and experience the divine journey in a safe and organized manner.
