Women’s Participation Will Propel Uttarakhand Towards Becoming a Model State: Dhami
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while presiding over a review meeting of the Migration Prevention Commission at the Secretariat on Friday, announced that individuals who have undertaken reverse migration in Uttarakhand will be provided with a dedicated platform to share their success stories. The initiative aims to inspire others to explore self-employment opportunities within the state.
Dhami emphasized that the insights and suggestions from these individuals will be integrated into various government schemes, enhancing their effectiveness. He highlighted the pivotal role of women in the state’s development, stating that increased participation by women will help Uttarakhand emerge as one of the leading states in the country. “This participation will honor the passion, courage, and skills of women,” he added.
The Chief Minister instructed Secretary of Rural Development, Radhika Jha, to work on creating a mechanism for collecting and sharing the success stories of reverse migrants and incorporating them into policy planning. He stressed the importance of skill development for sustainable rural livelihoods and encouraged the identification of local employment opportunities to promote self-reliance among residents.
Special emphasis was placed on empowering women through self-help groups by providing them with professional training. Dhami stated that equipping women with such skills would enable better branding and marketing of their products, ensuring they receive fair market prices.
Vice President of the Migration Prevention Commission, Dr. S.S. Negi, informed the gathering that around 2,000 individuals have successfully adopted self-employment by engaging in agriculture, animal husbandry, tourism, homestays, horticulture, and other sectors after returning to the state. These efforts have led to substantial earnings and local economic growth.
Additional recommendations were presented by other commission members during the meeting. Dhami directed officials to simplify existing schemes and ensure active collaboration among departments such as Planning, Education, Tourism, and Skill Development to strengthen the commission’s impact.
The meeting was also attended by Vice President of the Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vishwas Dabar, commission members Ramprakash Panyuli, Suresh Suyal, Dinesh Rawat, Additional Commissioner of Rural Development Rajendra Singh Rawat, and other senior officials.
