Dehradun: The weather has taken a sudden turn in Uttarakhand, bringing relief for some and a chill for others. The Meteorological Department’s forecast proved accurate as rainfall lashed both the plains and the hills on Monday, accompanied by the season’s first snowfall in Kedarnath Dham and Hemkund Sahib.
The sacred shrines, blanketed in snow, have turned picturesque, attracting the attention of pilgrims and tourists alike. The fresh layer of snow has added to the divine beauty of the Char Dham circuit.
In the plains, Dehradun, Haridwar, and Tehri witnessed continuous rainfall since morning, resulting in a noticeable drop in temperature. People have taken out their woolens as the pink chill of October sets in early this year.
Snowfall in high-altitude areas, rain in the valleys
Light snowfall was also reported from the peaks surrounding Yamunotri Dham and the Yamuna Valley, while light to moderate rain continued in the lower regions. The sudden change in weather has lowered temperatures across the state.
