Record-Breaking Pilgrim Footfall at Badrinath Dham
Shrine to Close on November 25
Dehradun: The world-famous Badrinath Dham is witnessing a record-breaking influx of pilgrims this year. As of Wednesday, 14,53,827 devotees have visited the sacred shrine of Lord Badri Vishal—surpassing last year’s total of 14,35,341 pilgrims. With nearly one and a half months still remaining before the shrine’s winter closure on November 25, the total number of visitors is expected to cross 15 lakh this season.
The remarkable increase in pilgrim numbers is being credited to the efficient management and planning of the Dhami government. Despite occasional adverse weather conditions, the state administration ensured that the yatra continued smoothly without disruption.
-
Special teams and JCB machines were deployed at sensitive stretches to immediately clear blocked routes.
-
Adequate accommodation, food, medical, and safety facilities have been arranged for pilgrims across all routes and halting points.
-
SDRF and police personnel have been stationed along the route to assist travelers and maintain safety.
-
With temperatures dropping due to early snowfall, bonfire arrangements have also been made for pilgrims’ comfort.
Pilgrim Numbers Continue to Rise
On Wednesday alone, 5,042 devotees paid obeisance at Badrinath Dham. As the date of the winter closure approaches, the number of visitors continues to increase steadily. The surge has also brought cheer to local traders, hotel owners, and transporters who depend on the pilgrimage season for their livelihood.
