CM Dhami Conducts Surprise Inspection at Dehradun ISBT, Picks Up Broom, Issues Stern Warning to Officials

Dehradun, November 18: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a surprise inspection at Dehradun’s Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) this afternoon, taking everyone by surprise. Arriving directly from the Secretariat, the Chief Minister personally inspected the cleanliness, passenger amenities, and general infrastructure at the station.
During the visit, CM Dhami was visibly displeased with the unhygienic conditions prevailing at several places within the premises. In a powerful gesture, he picked up a broom and cleaned the area himself, emphasizing that cleanliness must be practiced on the ground — not merely mentioned in reports.

The Chief Minister issued strict directives to the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) and the Transport Department to ensure regular upkeep of the ISBT. He instructed them to install cleanliness-related signage across the premises and ensure that public areas remain free from garbage, pollution, and dust.
Addressing MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, CM Dhami called for an immediate and effective action plan to improve sanitation and operational arrangements at the bus terminal. He also checked key facilities including ticket counters, restrooms, waiting areas, drinking water stations, shops, and security arrangements.
Emphasizing Uttarakhand’s status as a major tourist and pilgrimage destination, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness and public convenience at transport hubs like bus stands and railway stations.

During the inspection, CM Dhami interacted with passengers, gathered firsthand feedback on their travel experiences, and noted their suggestions for improvement. He stressed that passenger feedback would be crucial in enhancing service quality and infrastructure.
The Chief Minister also announced that the state government will soon launch a statewide cleanliness drive based on public participation. He warned that during his next visit, any laxity in maintaining upgraded facilities at ISBT would attract strict action against the responsible officials.
Senior officials from the MDDA and Transport Department were present during the inspection.
