146 Cases Heard at Dehradun Janta Darbar: District Administration Resolves Grievances on the Spot

Dehradun Janta Darbar hears 146 public complaints including land disputes, disaster relief, elderly abuse and financial aid. Immediate action and relief offered by district administration.

Dehradun, Monday: On the instructions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, a Janta Darbar was conducted at the Collectorate premises under the chairmanship of Chief Development Officer (CDO) Abhinav Shah. The public grievance forum witnessed a turnout of 146 complainants, who brought forth issues related to land disputes, encroachment, demarcation, assault, maintenance, disaster relief, financial assistance, and social security.

During the hearing, the CDO resolved several complaints instantly while directing concerned departments to take prompt legal action on others.

Key Cases and Immediate Relief

  • Hardeep Kaur, a 60-year-old widow from Sahasradhara, narrated her plight after losing all her belongings in a recent disaster. With no family to support her, she pleaded for financial assistance. In response, the administration immediately handed her a ₹25,000 cheque from the Rifle Club Fund.

  • Amar Devi, aged 70 from Chandrabani Choyla, reported severe domestic harassment from her sons and daughter-in-law, including physical abuse and food deprivation. The CDO promptly forwarded her complaint to the Senior Citizens Cell at the SSP Office, urging swift action, including maintenance and legal protection.

  • Chandi Prasad Lakheda, an 84-year-old resident of New Cantt Shakti Colony, complained of harassment and land encroachment by a neighbor. The District Legal Services Authority was directed to register a case and provide legal support.

  • Priya Verma, from Arya Nagar, arrived with her differently-abled son, seeking employment and financial support. Seeing her plight, officials from the Social Welfare and Industries Departments were instructed to extend necessary assistance. Other financial assistance requests from applicants like Rajendra Kumar and Dinesh Kumar were forwarded for investigation and relief proposal.

Actions on Public Grievances

  • Complaints from Alpha Tower Apartments residents about illegal parking, mechanical workshops, and anti-social activities under the Ajabpur flyover prompted orders to the City Magistrate and Deputy Municipal Commissioner for immediate action.

  • The SDM, Vikasnagar, was directed to remove unauthorized encroachments reported by the Jagat Narayan Subharti Charitable Trust within a week.

  • Issues raised by Natthanpur Coordination Committee and Saraswati Vihar residents concerning illegal constructions and disruption of traffic were forwarded to the MDDA and Municipal Corporation.

  • The BDO, Chakrata, was instructed to repair the damaged Pingwa village link road. Meanwhile, complaints by residents of Timli Mansingh and Sarona villages regarding crop damage due to wild animals resulted in orders to the Chief Agriculture Officer for field fencing.

  • A status report was ordered from the Tourism and Forest Departments over delays in the beautification project at the historical site Kharakhet.

  • Directions were also given to investigate the lack of electricity and water supply affecting 50 families in Upper Badrish Colony-Rajiv Nagar. Additionally, the National Highways Authority was asked to expedite compensation for land acquired under the Harrawala National Highway project.

The public hearing was attended by senior administrative officials including SDM Apoorva Singh, SDM Kumkum Joshi, SDM Vinod Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Santosh Kumar Pandey, District Development Officer Sunil Kumar, DPO Jitendra Kumar, District Probation Officer Meena, among others.
