Chief Secretary directs fast-tracking of computer labs, libraries, and science labs in PM Shri Schools
DEHRADUN: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, while reviewing the progress of PM Shri Schools in a meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday, instructed officials to expedite all pending works and adhere strictly to the prescribed timelines. He directed that computer labs in all PM Shri Schools must be fully established within the next one month. He also asked departments to ensure that the required budget for setting up libraries is released at the earliest.
The Chief Secretary emphasized accelerating the establishment of integrated science laboratories in 32 PM Shri Schools. He instructed that the budget pending for these labs must be sanctioned within one month. He further directed officials to maintain continuous coordination with IIT Kanpur to ensure timely availability of Tinkering Labs and complete the installation process within the fixed deadlines.
He also stressed the need to ensure playground facilities in all PM Shri Schools and instructed for immediate and time-bound action on this front.
During the meeting, officials informed that a total of 226 schools in the state have been selected as PM Shri Schools, including 34 primary and 192 secondary institutions. Additionally, 15 more schools have recently been approved. It was also reported that 16 out of 22 components under the PM Shri scheme have been fully implemented, while work on the remaining six components is progressing in different stages.
