CM Dhami Inaugurates and Lays Foundation Stones for Development Projects Worth ₹108 Crore in Kapkot

Kapkot witnessed an overwhelming public turnout on Sunday as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami arrived for a major public meeting on the second day of his Bageshwar visit. The event, held at the Kedareswar Ground, was marked by a warm welcome, with citizens greeting the Chief Minister with garlands and enthusiastic cheers.

During the program, Chief Minister Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 42 development projects totaling ₹108 crore. This included the inauguration of 24 completed projects worth around ₹62 crore, along with foundation stones for 18 new projects worth ₹45.95 crore. The event began with vibrant cultural performances by school children, creating an energetic and festive atmosphere.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the massive public participation reflects the people’s faith in the state’s development journey. He highlighted various welfare initiatives aimed at uplifting the poor, women, and youth, and shared updates on the ongoing renovation and beautification of religious sites under the ‘Manas Khand Mala’ project.

Speaking about the government’s tourism push, Dhami said that the new winter tourism initiative will boost year-round tourism in Uttarakhand, creating significant employment opportunities for local communities. He reiterated the government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy and praised the growing national recognition of Bageshwar’s traditional copperware under the One District–Two Products (ODOP) scheme.

The Chief Minister also informed the public that conservation efforts for the Saryu and Gomti rivers are progressing steadily and that the survey for the long-awaited Bageshwar railway line has been completed. In a key announcement, he declared that Garud Hospital will be upgraded to enhance healthcare services for the region.

As part of the program, financial assistance was distributed to various cooperative and self-help groups. These included a cheque of ₹3.23 crore to the Sankalp Autonomous Cooperative Group CLF (Harshila), ₹22.50 lakh to Urja Autonomous Cooperative CLF, and ₹5 lakh each to Samvad Mahila Self-Help Group and Jai Golu Devta Self-Help Group under the NRLM framework.

Several departments—including Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Cooperatives, Rural Development, Women’s Empowerment, Dairy, Animal Husbandry, and Industries—set up informative stalls to showcase their schemes. The Chief Minister visited these stalls, interacted with local artisans, listened to their concerns, and encouraged their efforts.

The event was attended by District Magistrate Akanksha Konde, District Panchayat Chairperson Shobha Arya, Kapkot MLA Suresh Gadiya, Bageshwar MLA Parvati Das, Minister of State Bhupesh Upadhyay, Shiv Singh Bisht, District Panchayat Vice Chairperson Vishakha Khetwal, former Cabinet Minister Balwant Singh Bhonryal, BJP District President Prabha Gadiya, Municipal Council President Suresh Khetwal, SP Chandra Singh Ghodke, CDO R.C. Tiwari, and a large number of local residents.
