ISBT Exit Gate Reopens After Years Following DM’s Strict Action

Major Relief for Buses Heading to Delhi, UP and Other States

Old NH Office Building Hindering Traffic Demolished, Toll Booth Shifted
Parking Facilities to Be Developed Along Roadsides and Under Flyover Soon

Dehradun, December 31:
Following the strict directions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, decisive action has been taken to resolve the long-pending traffic congestion problem in the ISBT area. The exit gate of ISBT, which had remained closed for several years, has finally been reopened, ensuring smooth movement of buses heading towards Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh and other states.

The prolonged closure of the exit gate had been causing severe traffic congestion within the ISBT premises and surrounding areas. During his inspection, the District Magistrate expressed strong displeasure over the situation and issued clear instructions to reopen the gate immediately. Acting on his directions, all illegal and temporary structures constructed at the exit gate were completely demolished, and the toll booth installed there was shifted to another location.

With the reopening of the exit gate, buses bound for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh are now exiting smoothly through this route, significantly reducing traffic pressure in the ISBT complex and adjoining areas.

During the inspection, the District Magistrate also identified an old and unused National Highway (NH) office building that had become a major obstruction to traffic movement near ISBT. In compliance with his instructions, the building has been demolished, resulting in improved road width and smoother traffic flow.

In addition, the District Magistrate directed officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to close the unplanned and unsafe cut beneath the flyover and develop a properly designed and safe passage. Work has also begun to develop organized parking facilities by laying tiles on vacant land along the ISBT roadside and under the flyover.

The administration aims to curb haphazard parking and strengthen traffic management on a long-term basis. The District Magistrate has instructed all concerned departments to complete the works within a stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality standards, so that the general public and commuters can get lasting relief from traffic congestion.
