Road Restoration Work Begins on Shimla Bypass Following Strict Action by District Administration
Public Safety Paramount; Legal Action to Follow in Case of Negligence
Dehradun | February 09
Taking serious note of public inconvenience and traffic disruption caused by road excavation on the Shimla Bypass, the district administration has initiated strict action. Acting on the instructions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Joint Magistrate Rahul Kumar conducted an on-site inspection to assess the situation.
The inspection revealed that excavation carried out by Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) had damaged the road surface, leading to dust pollution, potholes, traffic congestion, and inconvenience to commuters. Local residents also raised concerns over increased risk of accidents due to the deteriorated road condition.
Prioritizing public safety and convenience, the District Magistrate directed the Public Works Department (Construction Division) to immediately commence road restoration work. In compliance with these directions, restoration work on the Shimla Bypass has begun on a war footing to ensure early normalization of traffic flow.
The District Magistrate has issued a stern warning to all concerned departments and executing agencies that any future road excavation must be followed by timely restoration as per prescribed standards. Any negligence or violation of norms will invite strict legal action against the responsible agency.
It is noteworthy that the district administration had earlier cancelled all permissions related to road-cutting works. Legal action, including prosecution, has been ordered against those carrying out excavation without prior approval.
The district administration continues to maintain strict surveillance over the condition of public roads, keeping public safety and convenience as its top priority.
