Crackdown on LPG Black Marketing in Dehradun, 95,000 Cylinder Backlog Under Focus

Dehradun administration forms QRT teams to curb LPG black marketing and ensure home delivery. Over 18,500 households served, but 95,000 cylinder backlog remains. Helplines activated for complaints.

Dehradun, March 18 | In a bid to curb black marketing of LPG cylinders and ensure 100% home delivery, the Dehradun district administration has strengthened its monitoring mechanism. Acting on the directions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been constituted across different zones of the district.

These QRT teams carried out inspections of gas agencies in their respective areas on Wednesday. During the inspections, they reviewed key aspects such as LPG demand, supply, distribution systems, and stock availability to prevent any irregularities or artificial shortages.

Following the DM’s directives, Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) K.K. Mishra is closely monitoring LPG distribution and supply across the district through the control room. Continuous supervision is also being maintained to ensure prompt resolution of public grievances.

The district administration has publicized helpline numbers—1077, 0135-2626066, 0135-2726066, and WhatsApp number 7534826066—for lodging complaints. So far, a total of 25 complaints related to LPG supply have been received. Officials from the District Supply Department stationed at the control room are ensuring immediate action on these complaints.

According to official data, approximately 18,546 domestic consumers and 239 commercial consumers received LPG cylinder deliveries in the district today. However, a backlog of nearly 95,000 domestic cylinders still persists, and efforts are underway to clear it at the earliest.

At present, around 41,348 domestic LPG cylinders and 1,821 commercial cylinders are available in stock across the district. Authorities noted that demand for both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders has increased in recent days, putting additional pressure on the supply system.

The administration has made it clear that strict action will be taken against any agency found involved in black marketing, hoarding, or negligence in distribution. Citizens have been urged to report any issues through the helpline numbers to ensure timely redressal.
