Adequate Supply of Gas, Fuel and Essential Commodities Ensured; No Need to Panic: Chief Secretary

Dehradun:
In view of the prevailing global situation, a high-level review meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas, fuel, and other essential commodities across the state. Key issues such as demand-supply balance, prevention of black marketing, and promotion of green energy were discussed in detail.

Sufficient Supply, Appeal to Avoid Panic

The Chief Secretary clarified that there is adequate availability of domestic and commercial gas as well as other essential commodities in the state. He urged citizens not to pay attention to rumors and avoid unnecessary panic.

Special Planning for Char Dham Yatra

Keeping in mind the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, the Tourism and Food & Civil Supplies departments have been directed to assess the anticipated rise in demand and ensure additional arrangements for gas and fuel. Coordination with the Central Government has also been emphasized to strengthen supply.

Strict Action Against Black Marketing and Hoarding

The Chief Secretary instructed officials to maintain strict vigilance against black marketing and hoarding of gas, crude oil, and fertilizers. Special surveillance has been ordered in areas along the Nepal border to curb illegal activities.

Transparency in Fertilizer Distribution

The Agriculture Department has been directed to prevent unnecessary hoarding of urea. Fertilizer distribution will be linked with agri-tech systems, farmer registries, and actual cultivation data to prevent misuse.

Push Towards Green Energy

Highlighting the need to reduce dependence on foreign imports and achieve the carbon neutrality target by 2070, the Chief Secretary stressed accelerating the adoption of green energy. Departments have been directed to promote alternatives such as pine briquettes, biogas plants, solar stoves, and solar cookers.

Promotion of Electric Vehicles

Special emphasis has been laid on promoting electric vehicles in both government and private transport sectors to develop a green energy-based transportation system.

Regular Briefings to Curb Rumors

To ensure accurate information reaches the public, instructions have been given to conduct regular press briefings at both state and district levels, helping effectively counter misinformation.

Strict Monitoring of Supply Chain

Officials have been directed to closely monitor gas agencies and distributors, conduct daily checks of stock registers, and take immediate corrective action in case of any imbalance. Additional gas supply arrangements have also been instructed for events like weddings.

Support Mechanism for Migrants

For citizens from Uttarakhand stranded in Gulf countries and the Middle East, directions have been issued to release toll-free helplines and appoint nodal officers at both state and district levels.

Senior officials from the administration, police department, and representatives of oil companies (IOC, BPCL, HPCL) attended the meeting, while district officials participated virtually.
