DM Savin Bansal Takes Strong Action on Public Grievances in Dehradun

Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal waived a ₹31,657 water bill of an 82-year-old disabled man during Janata Darshan. Over 212 complaints addressed, FIR ordered, education support provided, and canal damage probe initiated.

Dehradun, April 06, 2026:
The district administration demonstrated prompt and compassionate governance during the Janata Darshan (public grievance hearing) held at Rishiparna Auditorium in the Collectorate under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Savin Bansal. More than 212 complaints were received, and officials were directed to ensure their timely resolution.


Relief for 82-Year-Old Disabled Man

An 82-year-old disabled resident, Natthilal, from Chhabilbagh Kanwali Road appealed for relief from a hefty water bill of ₹31,657. With his son missing for over a decade and the responsibility of two grandchildren on his shoulders, he was facing financial hardship.
On the DM’s directions, the Jal Sansthan waived ₹11,487 as interest, while the remaining ₹20,170 was settled under a one-time settlement through the Rifle Fund, deposited by the district administration.


FIR and Labour Court Case Ordered in Death Compensation Matter

Meena Bansal, a resident of Vikasnagar, complained that her son died in 2023 due to injuries sustained in an accident at a hotel, but the employer failed to provide compensation.
The District Magistrate directed the Assistant Labour Commissioner to:

  • Register an FIR against the employer firm
  • File a case in the Labour Court
  • Ensure disposal within two months

Immediate Legal Action in Domestic Harassment Case

An elderly couple from Rishikesh reported harassment, abuse, and threats from their daughter-in-law.
The DM instructed the SDM Rishikesh to initiate proceedings under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act.


Education Support for Two Girls Revived

Roshni Rawat, a resident of Dharampur, sought help due to financial difficulties in educating her two daughters.
The District Magistrate directed officials to ensure their education under the Project Nanda-Sunanda initiative.


Probe Ordered into Damage of Government Canal in Harrawala

A complaint from Baburam Maurya of Harrawala highlighted illegal damage to a government irrigation canal, affecting farmers’ wheat crops.
The DM ordered the Additional District Magistrate, SDM Doiwala, and the Minor Irrigation Department to conduct an immediate inquiry and take action.

Officials Present

Senior officials including Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) K.K. Mishra, Joint Magistrate Rahul Anand, SP Traffic Lokjit Singh, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Santosh Pandey, and others were present during the hearing.
