e-KYC Mandatory for Ration Card Holders by May 30; Complete the Process from Home via “Mera e-KYC” App

Dehradun.
The state government has made e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) mandatory for all ration card holders to strengthen transparency and efficiency in the Public Distribution System (PDS). All unit holders have been directed to complete their e-KYC process by May 30, 2026, failing which they may face difficulties in receiving subsidized food grains in the future.

To simplify the process, the government has introduced the “Mera e-KYC” mobile application, developed with the support of the National Informatics Centre (NIC). The app enables beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC from the comfort of their homes, making it especially helpful for elderly, differently-abled, and vulnerable individuals who may find it difficult to visit fair price shops.

Simple Digital Verification Process
Users need to enter their Aadhaar number on the app, after which an OTP is sent to their registered mobile number. The process is further authenticated through face recognition technology, ensuring a secure and user-friendly verification system.

According to official data:

  • Around 72% of white ration card holders have completed their e-KYC. Out of 958,624 beneficiaries, 691,086 have successfully verified their details.
  • Among yellow ration card holders, the progress stands at 40%, with 198,241 out of 503,316 beneficiaries completing the process so far.

District Supply Officer K.K. Agrawal stated that the “Mera e-KYC” app offers an easy solution for those who have not yet completed the process. He urged all ration card holders to complete their e-KYC within the stipulated deadline to ensure uninterrupted access to government food supplies.

The move aims to eliminate fake beneficiaries, ensure that subsidies reach the genuinely eligible population, and bring greater transparency and accountability to the ration distribution system.
