Special Lok Adalat to Facilitate Amicable Settlement of Pending Cases

‘Samadhan Samaroh’ to be Organised in the Supreme Court from August 21 to 23

In a significant initiative aimed at ensuring speedy and amicable resolution of pending disputes, a Special Lok Adalat will be organised in the Supreme Court of India, New Delhi, from August 21 to 23, 2026 under the banner of “Samadhan Samaroh”.

Giving information in this regard, Seema Dungrakoti, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Dehradun and Civil Judge (Senior Division), said that various categories of pending cases before the Supreme Court would be settled through mutual consent, compromise and conciliation during the special event.

She informed that the cases to be taken up in the Special Lok Adalat include criminal matters, motor accident compensation claims, cheque bounce cases, bank loan and recovery disputes, civil and matrimonial cases, insurance claims, matters related to government departments and public sector undertakings, educational and service matters, along with several other categories of disputes.

The DLSA Secretary further stated that litigants whose cases are pending before the Supreme Court and who wish to resolve their matters quickly and amicably should ensure that their cases are duly listed before the Supreme Court by August 20, 2026, so that they may be considered for settlement during the Special Lok Adalat.

As part of the campaign, notices are being sent to litigants from Dehradun district whose matters are pending before the Supreme Court. The concerned parties are being invited to the office of the District Legal Services Authority for pre-meeting discussions and conciliation proceedings. If the discussions are successful, necessary action will be taken with the assistance of the Authority to facilitate disposal of the matters through the Special Lok Adalat.

The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority appealed to all litigants to take advantage of this opportunity for speedy, cost-effective and amicable settlement of their pending disputes by contacting the court or the office of the District Legal Services Authority.
