Chief Minister Dhami Dedicates Upgraded Cricket Ground to People of Pithoragarh, Boosts Youth Morale by Joining Players on the Field

Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Surendra Singh Valdiya Stadium in Pithoragarh during his district tour on Friday and inaugurated the upgraded cricket ground, dedicating it to the people of the district. The Chief Minister also joined players on the field, participating in cricket, football, hockey, and other sports activities, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm among the youth.

To formally inaugurate the cricket pitch, Chief Minister Dhami stepped onto the field and played an over of six deliveries while batting alongside local players. His energetic and friendly interaction with young athletes became the highlight of the event and drew an enthusiastic response from the crowd.

Addressing players and youth present at the stadium, the Chief Minister said that sports are not only a means of physical fitness but also a powerful medium for developing discipline, self-confidence, leadership qualities, and team spirit. He emphasized that sports play a vital role in channeling the energy of youth in a positive direction and reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure across Uttarakhand.

During the event, the Chief Minister also administered an anti-drug pledge to the youth and urged them to stay away from substance abuse while focusing on sports, education, and constructive activities. He said that the youth must actively participate in the state’s anti-drug campaign to build a healthier and more progressive society. According to him, sports inspire discipline, healthy lifestyles, and positive thinking among young people.

Chief Minister Dhami honored nine outstanding players during the program and stated that the youth of Uttarakhand possess immense talent and potential. He said the government is committed to providing athletes with the right opportunities and resources to excel at national and international levels. He also highlighted that initiatives like Khel Mahakumbh are offering a valuable platform for talented players from rural and remote areas to showcase their abilities.

Referring to the state’s new sports policy, the Chief Minister said that every possible support is being extended to emerging athletes so they can bring laurels to Uttarakhand at national and international competitions. He added that the government is continuously working to expand modern sports infrastructure, improve training facilities, and promote sporting talent throughout the state.

The Chief Minister further stated that sports infrastructure in Pithoragarh and other districts of Uttarakhand will be strengthened further to ensure that young athletes receive access to modern facilities within their own regions. He also announced that floodlights will soon be installed around the cricket ground at Surendra Singh Valdiya Stadium to facilitate night practice sessions and sporting events.

Local public representatives, senior government and administrative officials, sports enthusiasts, players, and a large number of youths were present on the occasion.
