Centre Approves ₹547.73 Crore Project for Rishikesh

Undergrounding of HT/LT Lines and SCADA Automation to be Implemented

DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand has received a major boost from the Central Government with the approval of a ₹547.73 crore project under the RDSS scheme. The project, to be executed by Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), will focus on the undergrounding of HT/LT power lines and implementation of SCADA automation in the Rishikesh Ganga Corridor area.

The sanctioned project includes parallel GBS of ₹493.05 crore and PMA fee of ₹8.22 crore, approved through Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC).

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for the approval, stating that the state government had formally requested the Centre for this vital project.

CM Dhami said—
“For a spiritual, tourist, and Kumbh region like Rishikesh, this project will not only strengthen the power supply system but also significantly contribute to beautification, safety, and environmental balance. The Uttarakhand government is fully committed to implementing the project in a time-bound manner to ensure quality, reliable, and secure power supply for the people of the state.”

With this initiative, the Rishikesh Ganga Corridor will benefit from enhanced transparency, real-time monitoring, and rapid restoration capabilities in electricity supply.
