DEHRADUN: Amid continuous heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and the heightened risk of landslides, the Chardham Yatra has been suspended for a day as a precautionary measure. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey informed that this decision has been taken in view of the prevailing weather conditions to ensure the safety of pilgrims and protect life and property.
The Commissioner added that district administrations have been directed to remain vigilant and to shift devotees stranded along the yatra routes to safer locations. Relief and rescue teams have also been placed on full alert.
He further stated that a decision on resuming the pilgrimage will be made tomorrow after reviewing weather conditions and the status of the travel routes. Meanwhile, devotees have been urged to adhere strictly to the guidelines issued by the administration and avoid moving towards the pilgrimage sites until the weather stabilizes.
