CM Dhami honours famous folk singer Narendra Singh Negi with Uttarakhand Lok Samman

CM presented a citation to Narendra Singh Negi and wished him a happy birthday.

CM described Narendra Singh Negi as a personality as steadfast as Himalaya.

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday released the book ‘Kal Phir Jab Subah Hogi’ written by Lalit Mohan Rayal on the works of famous folk singer Narendra Singh Negi on his birthday in the 50 years program of Geet Yatra at the Culture Auditorium on Haridwar Road. On this occasion, he honored Narendra Singh Negi with Uttarakhand Lok Samman and presented a check of Rs 2.51 lakh and wished him a happy birthday by presenting him a citation.

Appreciating the efforts of the book’s author Lalit Mohan Rayal, the Chief Minister described it as a work to preserve the book for future generations.

While congratulating the famous folk singer Narendra Singh Negi on his birthday, the Chief Minister described him as a great son of God’s land with a personality as steadfast as the Himalayas and said that Negi ji’s songs make us aware of the challenges of the mountains along with our environment. The mixture of nature, tradition, environment, separation and pain in his songs connect us with our rich traditions and folk culture. His songs will carry forward the rich tradition of our heritage from generation to generation and will continue to inspire the youth.

The Chief Minister described Narendra Singh Negi as the voice of the mountains and wished him a long life. The Chief Minister said that he has done the work of spreading the rich folk culture and social concerns to the country and the world through his songs and music. He has indeed been a successful hero of the society. His songs have been helpful in connecting the people of the state with their traditions.

Narendra Singh Negi expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for his attachment towards folk culture. Praising the efforts of Lalit Mohan Rayal, he said that with his scholarship, he has analyzed 101 songs and presented them to the society in the form of a 400-page book. This is also a symbol of his deep understanding of folk literature and culture. He has taken the meaning of the words beyond that of the song writer. On this occasion, he forced people to connect with their folk culture by singing his famous song Thando Re Thando, written on stopping migration from the mountains.

On this occasion, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Vice Chancellor Doon University Prof. Surekha Dangwal, former Director General of Police Anil Kumar Raturi, litterateurs Nand Kishore Hatwal, Dinesh Semwal, Sachidanand Bharti, Ganesh Khuksal Gani and a large number of litterateurs and people associated with folk culture were present.
