CM Dhami Announces New Forest Corporation Office in Kumaon at Silver Jubilee Event

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami attends Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation’s silver jubilee, announces new Kumaon office, launches Himkashth app, highlights ₹167 crore profit and eco-balance initiatives.

Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Silver Jubilee celebration marking 25 years of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation at the Chief Minister’s residence, making several key announcements focused on forest management and economic growth.

The Chief Minister announced that a new office of the Forest Development Corporation will be established in the Kumaon region to improve operational efficiency. He also directed officials to bring a proposal to the Cabinet for installing bee boxes (beekeeping units) in forest areas, aiming to promote biodiversity as well as local livelihoods.

During the event, children of corporation employees who scored over 75% in board examinations were felicitated.

Dhami emphasized that the Forest Development Corporation plays a crucial role in both the state’s economy and environmental sustainability. He highlighted its work in scientific forest management, sustainable extraction of forest produce, regulated mining in reserved forest areas, eco-tourism operations, and supply of certified timber.

He added that the corporation is also engaged in clearing dry and fallen trees and supporting the development of new forest areas, while raising environmental awareness among youth through eco-tourism initiatives.

Launch of “Himkashth” Mobile App

On the occasion, the Chief Minister launched the “Himkashth” mobile application, which will enable online sale of timber and e-auction of forest goods. He noted that such digital initiatives have strengthened ease of doing business and reflect the commitment of the government.

Dhami stated that the corporation recorded a net profit of ₹167 crore in the previous year, showcasing efficient resource utilization and transparent governance.

Appeal to Tourists

The Chief Minister urged tourists and pilgrims visiting Uttarakhand to maintain cleanliness and avoid littering, especially during forest safaris and visits to religious sites. He reiterated that the “Lifestyle for Environment” initiative is a vital step toward protecting the planet.

Forest Minister’s Remarks

Subodh Uniyal said that the state is continuously working towards forest conservation while maintaining a balance between ecology and economy. He informed that the corporation generated revenue of ₹627 crore in the last financial year and is focusing on innovation.
