DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday visited several shops and business establishments in Rajpur, Dehradun, as part of the ongoing “GST Savings Festival” campaign. During the visit, he interacted with traders, shopkeepers, and local entrepreneurs, highlighting the benefits of the revised GST rates recently implemented by the Central Government.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing the new GST slabs, calling the decision historic, people-centric, and transformative. He emphasized that the reforms in the tax structure will provide direct financial relief to millions of families and small businesses, particularly ahead of the upcoming festive season.
Addressing the gathering, Dhami said that the revised GST rates will not only boost consumer savings but also energize the state’s economy by increasing demand and encouraging trade activities. He added that such initiatives align with the vision of building a self-reliant India and urged traders to actively promote indigenous products as part of the “Vocal for Local” campaign.
The Chief Minister also sought feedback from business owners and encouraged them to spread awareness among the general public about the benefits of reduced GST. He informed that the awareness campaign will continue in the state till September 29, with participation from ministers, MLAs, and government officials, who will conduct outreach programs across different regions.
Dhami remarked, “The timing of these reforms, just before the festivals, will increase household savings, reduce financial burden, and accelerate the growth of the local market. This decision of the Central Government will be remembered as a milestone in the country’s economic journey.”
