Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directs preparation of SOP to ensure safety and security of government officers, employees and teachers across state offices.
Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the preparation of a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure the safety and security of officers, employees, and teachers working in government offices and institutions across the state.
On Monday, office bearers of the Uttarakhand Officer-Employee-Teacher Front met the Chief Minister at the Chief Minister’s residence and raised concerns over recent incidents involving government officials and employees, including the February 21 incident at the Directorate of Elementary Education. The delegation demanded strict measures to prevent such incidents in the future and to strengthen workplace security.
Taking the matter seriously, the Chief Minister reiterated that the state government remains fully committed to safeguarding the dignity, respect, and security of government personnel. He immediately spoke with the Chief Secretary over the phone and instructed the preparation of a detailed SOP aimed at ensuring the safety of officers, employees, and teachers at government workplaces.
The Chief Minister also directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to strengthen security arrangements at government offices, ensure adequate safety measures at sensitive locations, and take prompt legal action in cases of misconduct or violence against government staff.
Additionally, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun, has been instructed to conduct a fair investigation into the incident at the Directorate of Education and take strict action against those found guilty as per the law.
Among those present during the meeting were Vice Chairman of the State Medicinal Plant Board Pratap Singh Panwar, Front President Ram Singh Chauhan, General Secretary Mukesh Bahuguna, along with other representatives.
The government’s decision is being viewed as a significant step toward institutionalizing workplace safety mechanisms for government employees across Uttarakhand.
