CM Dhami Directs Strengthening of Bonfire and Night Shelter Facilities Across the State Amid Cold Wave

Nainital: During his visit to Nainital on Thursday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami issued strict directions to all districts to enhance winter relief measures as temperatures continue to drop across Uttarakhand. Taking note of the intensifying cold wave, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure adequate facilities in all night shelters and to arrange bonfires at public places for the protection of the needy.

CM Dhami directed District Magistrates to provide proper arrangements in night shelters, including sufficient blankets, quilts, and other essential items so that homeless and vulnerable individuals can stay safe during the harsh winter conditions. He emphasized that no person in the state should suffer due to cold.

The Chief Minister further instructed the administration to keep teams active in every district to maintain effective monitoring in cities, towns, markets, and major public locations. These teams will ensure that homeless and helpless persons receive timely assistance.

He also directed that bonfires be regularly lit during the evening in urban and semi-urban areas where temperatures fall sharply. Along with this, he ordered continuous monitoring of all bonfire points to ensure their proper functioning.

Additionally, the Chief Minister asked officials to submit daily reports on the availability, distribution, and monitoring of essential winter relief materials, ensuring that all arrangements remain efficient and responsive.

Dhami said that the government’s priority is to provide timely relief and necessary protection to every person affected by the cold wave across the state.
