Construction Work Should Reflect Public Sentiments: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami

Khatima, Lohiyahead: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a detailed review of the ambitious Sharda Corridor Development Project, emphasizing that every aspect of the project must align with public sentiments, local traditions, and cultural values.
During the high-level review meeting held at his camp office in Khatima Lohiyahead on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said the project aims for the comprehensive development of nearly 200 square kilometers surrounding the revered Sharda Peeth area. He stated that the initiative would transform the region into a strong and vibrant center of religious, cultural, tourism, and environmental significance.
The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of 38 major projects proposed under the development plan and instructed officials to ensure that all works are completed on time, with transparency, quality, and accountability.
Key Components of the Sharda Corridor Project
The proposed works under the ₹3,300-crore project include:

The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite land acquisition and transfer processes and ensure that no delays occur in construction activities. He also instructed the executing agencies to establish local offices to accelerate implementation and maintain coordination on the ground.
Focus on Culture and Environment
Chief Minister Dhami reiterated that environmental protection must remain a top priority in all construction and planning processes. He said that every design and architectural element should reflect the traditional culture, heritage, and architectural style of the region.
He added that development should complement the natural beauty of the area while enhancing tourism, local employment opportunities, and the overall quality of life for residents.
Future Vision: Vivekananda Circuit, Maa Varahi Dham and Shaurya Sthal
The Chief Minister announced that future plans include the development of the Vivekananda Circuit in Lohaghat and the Maa Varahi Dham spiritual zone. He also proposed developing the region as a destination wedding hub and establishing a “Shaurya Sthal” to honor the bravery and sacrifice of army, police, and paramilitary personnel.
He emphasized that the Sharda Corridor would not only strengthen the region’s spiritual and cultural identity but also play a key role in boosting tourism, environmental preservation, and economic growth in Tanakpur and Champawat.
Project Investment and Progress
A total investment of around ₹3,300 crore has been proposed for the Sharda Corridor Development Project. Work on various components is progressing at a rapid pace, and the project is expected to give a new identity to Tanakpur as a premier center of faith and prosperity.

The review meeting was attended by Minister of State (Independent Charge) Anil Kapoor Daboo, Special Secretary and Joint Managing Director, UIDB Ajay Mishra, District Magistrate, Champawat Manish Kumar, District Magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar Nitin Singh Bhadoria, Additional District Magistrate, Champawat Krishna Nath Goswami, Chief Development Officer Dr. G.S. Khati, along with other senior officials and a large number of local residents.
