CS Radha Raturi reviews ways for improvement in SDG Index.

Chief Secretary Radha Raturi directed the Health Department to track the visits made by ANMs for ANC (antenatal care) of pregnant women through 104 to improve the maternal mortality rate in Uttarakhand under SDG Index 2023-24.

The Chief Secretary directed to make special efforts to improve the maternal mortality rate in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. She  directed the Health Department to work in mission mode and prepare an action plan soon while working with non-governmental health organizations on tracking of pregnant women, ANC, anemia status across the state.  Along with this, CS Radha Raturi instructed to count the disabled children deprived of education in the state to improve the participation of disabled children in school education and to take help of four major national institutions including NIVH to arrange trained teachers for them.

The CS directed the Labour Department to conduct a survey and collect data in this regard in relation to the goal of increasing women’s participation in managerial positions in the private sector under the SDG Index. On cases of domestic violence against women, the Chief Secretary also directed the Police Department to keep harassed women coming to the Women’s Help Desk in a safe house and make arrangements for counseling of their parents. Regarding suicide cases in the state, the CS instructed the Police Department to collect information on suicide statistics according to age so that mental health services can be arranged in this direction with a targeted approach.

In cases of violence against Scheduled Castes, the Chief Secretary directed for effective investigation and timely distribution of compensation. Regarding control in cases of road accidents, the CS Radha Raturi instructed the Transport Department to collect data related to black spots and crash barriers, making it a nodal department.

Officicers of various departments including Secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, Dr R Rajesh Kumar were also  present at the review meeting.
