CS Reviews Heavy Rainfall Situation from State Disaster Control Room

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan on Friday reached the State Emergency Operations Center and conducted a high-level review of the heavy rainfall situation across various districts of Uttarakhand. During the meeting, he sought detailed updates on rainfall patterns and area-specific conditions from the respective District Magistrates through video conferencing.

Emphasizing proactive preparedness, the Chief Secretary instructed officials to take the warnings and forecasts issued by the Meteorological Department with utmost seriousness. He stressed that in view of the likelihood of heavy rainfall and possible landslides, adequate arrangements must be made in advance in vulnerable areas to avoid any delay in relief and rescue operations during emergencies.

He directed the District Magistrates to ensure immediate financial assistance to affected families as per prescribed norms and to deploy essential resources without delay in disaster-hit regions.

Focus on Restoring Basic Services

Bardhan underlined that in the event of disruption to basic facilities such as roads, drinking water supply, or electricity, prompt restoration should be ensured. He instructed seamless coordination among departments for the timely delivery of relief materials to affected locations. Both state- and district-level disaster control rooms have been directed to remain on 24×7 alert mode to respond to any emergent situation swiftly.

Public Awareness and Use of Sachet App

Highlighting the importance of timely information dissemination, the Chief Secretary advised launching a widespread awareness campaign to promote the use of the ‘Sachet App,’ enabling citizens to receive real-time weather-related updates and alerts.

Additional Chief Executive Officer (Implementation) DIG Rajkumar Negi, Joint Chief Executive Officer Md. Obaidullah Ansari, and other senior officials were also present during the review meeting.
