Dehradun DM Resolves 195 Public Grievances in Janata Darshan, Orders Action on Land Disputes & Encroachments

Dehradun DM Savin Bansal heard 195 grievances during Janata Darshan and ordered swift action on land disputes, illegal encroachments, fraud cases, elderly safety and civic issues.

Dehradun:
The District Administration, under the leadership of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, organized a Janata Darshan (Public Hearing) at the Rishiparna Auditorium in the Collectorate premises on Monday, ensuring prompt and sensitive redressal of public grievances. A total of 195 complaints related to land disputes, demarcation, illegal encroachments, domestic disputes, financial assistance, employment, education, Municipal Corporation and Development Authority issues were presented by citizens.

The District Magistrate personally heard each complainant and directed the concerned departmental officers to ensure time-bound, quality-driven and outcome-oriented resolution of all grievances. He emphasized that the dignity and safety of women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and vulnerable sections of society would be protected at all costs.

Status Quo Ordered in Athlete’s Land Dispute

National Para-Olympic athlete Vijay Chaudhary from Ambiwala complained that despite the matter being sub judice, a neighboring woman was cutting trees and attempting illegal कब्जा (encroachment) on land registered in his mother Kalawati’s name. Taking immediate cognizance, the DM directed the SDM to maintain status quo on the disputed land until further orders of the court.

Justice Delivered to Ex-Serviceman; False Case Quashed

Former serviceman Rajesh Kumar from Kotra Santur reported illegal encroachment on land purchased by him in 2016 and a false case registered against him based on misleading information. After preliminary inquiry found the allegations baseless, the DM instructed the SDM, Vikasnagar, to restore possession of the land to the complainant and ensured that the unfounded FIR was removed.

Elderly Woman’s Life Threatened; Fast-Track Hearing Ordered

Meena Kshetri from Doiwala reported threats to her life from her son and daughter-in-law. As the case was pending at the tehsil level, the DM ordered that the matter be immediately transferred to the district office for fast-track hearing and swift protection measures.

Medical Reimbursement Delay: Education Officer Summoned

Laxmi Tomar, widow of a retired teacher from Jolly Grant, stated that her medical reimbursement claim of ₹1.37 lakh had not been cleared despite repeated follow-ups. The DM summoned the District Education Officer to submit an immediate report and justification.

Action on Illegal Encroachment over Irrigation Canal

Farmers from Aetanbagh highlighted illegal construction over an irrigation canal, disrupting agricultural water supply. The DM directed the Executive Engineer to inspect the site and resolve the issue within two days.

Strict Action on Fraud, Encroachments & Civic Issues

  • In a case of alleged fraud of ₹8 lakh by a property dealer in Dalanwala, the Circle Officer (Police) was directed to take swift and stringent legal action.

  • An 80-year-old resident of Haripur Kalan complained of illegal encroachment on his private land and a government road; the SDM was ordered to conduct an immediate inquiry and take necessary action.

  • In Kunj Vihar, Kargi Chowk, residents complained that a sewer line was laid leaving one house unconnected; the concerned agency was directed to resolve the issue without delay.

  • In Rishikesh, senior citizen Chhajju Ram reported harassment by his daughter-in-law; police were directed to take appropriate action.

  • Dipa from Doiwala sought legal aid; the matter was referred to the District Legal Services Authority for free legal assistance.

The DM stated that inspired by the Chief Minister’s vision of good governance, public hearings are not merely platforms for listening to grievances, but effective mechanisms for real-time solutions and strict enforcement. Officers were directed to ensure that redressal is not limited to paperwork, but delivers visible outcomes on the ground.

Senior officials including Additional District Magistrate (Administration) K.K. Mishra, SDMs Apoorva Singh, Kumkum Joshi and Vinod Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Santosh Kumar Pandey, Project Director Vikram Singh, District Development Officer Sunil Kumar, and other district-level officers were present during the public hearing.
