Dehradun, July 29 – In a stern move against administrative negligence, District Magistrate Savin Bansal has suspended Rahul Dev, the Revenue Kanungo posted at Sadar Tehsil, with immediate effect. The action follows his deliberate delay in implementing a long-pending revenue order and repeated disobedience of instructions issued by senior officers.
The matter came to light during the Janta Darshan programme held on Monday, where senior citizen Ravinder Singh, a resident of Gandhi Road, raised his grievance before the District Magistrate. Singh revealed that a Collector’s order under Section 28 pertaining to his land had been passed as far back as 2018. While the order’s execution was duly recorded in register R-6 in 2023, and the relevant file had reached the Kanungo of Majra area in December 2023, no action had been taken to update the land records or maps.
Despite multiple reminders and directives from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the Tehsildar, Kanungo Rahul Dev failed to act. Viewing this as a serious breach of administrative duty, the District Magistrate ordered immediate disciplinary action. Following the preparation of a suspension recommendation file by Tehsildar Sadar, the Kanungo was officially suspended.
Issuing a strong warning, DM Savin Bansal stated, “Negligence in government work will not be tolerated. Officials who are indifferent to their responsibilities should be prepared for strict disciplinary measures.”
