125 Grievances Heard at Janta Darbar in Dehradun

Dehradun: Acting on the directives of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, a public grievance redressal camp (Janta Darbar) was organized on Monday at the Rishiparna Auditorium in the Collectorate. A total of 125 complaints were received from residents across the district, covering issues such as illegal encroachments, rain-damaged roads, drinking water supply, landslide threats to buildings, land disputes, compensation, and financial assistance. Many grievances were resolved on the spot, while others were forwarded to the concerned departments with strict instructions for immediate action.

Key cases addressed during the Janta Darbar included:

Illegal Encroachments:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป In Harrawala, the Deputy Municipal Commissioner was directed to remove illegal fencing and pillars erected on a public road.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป In Bhatgarhi, the SDM was instructed to act swiftly on the complaint of government land being illegally occupied.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป In Badamwala, the Public Works Department (PWD) was tasked with clearing road encroachments caused by blocked roadside drains.

Infrastructure & Utilities:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Residents of Athoorwala requested relocation of LT electricity poles from the middle of the road.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป THDC Colony residents demanded standard-compliant speed breakers with proper indicators for road safety; PWD and Transport Department were directed to address this immediately.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป In Purohitwala, damage to the village drinking water line due to rains prompted the DM to instruct the Jal Sansthan Executive Engineer to take urgent corrective action.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป In Kanswali Naugaon, despite water connections, no supply for four months led to fresh instructions for resolution.

Housing & Disaster Relief:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป The Pradhan of Rainapur sought reconstruction of kutcha houses and a damaged Panchayat Bhawan under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or Disaster Relief Fund. The BDO was asked to shortlist eligible beneficiaries.

Land & Property Disputes:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป In Sherpur (Shimla Bypass Road), allegations of forceful occupation of private land will now be investigated by the Tehsildar.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป A Jagriti Vihar resident alleged land fraud after paying an advance of โ‚น5 lakh without property registration; the CO police was directed to investigate.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป A widow from Mothrowala complained about a contractor abandoning house construction despite receiving payment.

Law & Order / Personal Grievances:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป Ratan Sethi raised concern over inaction in a hit-and-run FIR; SHO was ordered to expedite the investigation.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป A 78-year-old woman from Vikasnagar complained of harassment and misbehavior by her son and daughter-in-law.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป A complaint regarding rejection of a Chief Minister Swarojgar loan application by the bank has been referred to the Lead District Manager (LDM) for review.

Throughout the session, multiple complaints related to land demarcation, registration, and removal of illegal occupations were raised, highlighting recurring civic and administrative challenges.

Senior officials present included Additional Municipal Commissioner Raza Abbas, SDMs Smriti Parmar, Kumkum Joshi, Apoorva, Vinod Kumar, Chief Education Officer V.K. Dhoundiyal, District Probation Officer Meena Bisht, along with representatives from various district-level departments, ensuring on-the-spot decisions and accountability.

The District Magistrate reiterated that all public grievances must be addressed promptly, underlining the administrationโ€™s commitment to responsive governance and strict enforcement against illegal activities.
