UTTARAKHAND: Senior Journalist Rakesh Khanduri Passes Away

Journalism Fraternity in Mourning

Dehradun, 28 August. The journalism world of Uttarakhand suffered a deep loss today with the untimely demise of senior journalist and Amar Ujala State Bureau Chief, Rakesh Khanduri. He was 51.

Khanduri was admitted to AIIMS Rishikesh after suffering a heart attack, where he passed away during treatment. The news of his demise spread quickly, casting a shadow of grief across the state and the media fraternity.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari, District Magistrate Savin Bansal, and District Information Officer Badri Chand Negi, along with many senior officials, paid heartfelt tributes to him. 

In his condolence message, Chief Minister Dhami said that Khanduri’s passing is an irreparable loss to journalism in Uttarakhand. “He was known for his commitment to truth and his deep connect with society. I pray to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family,” 

Director General of Information, Banshidhar Tiwari, also expressed deep sorrow and recalled Khanduri’s dedication to ethical journalism. Similar condolences were expressed by District Magistrate Savin Bansal and Information Officer Badri Chand Negi, who highlighted his professional integrity and personal warmth.

Khanduri’s mortal remains have been brought to his residence in Doiwala, from where the funeral procession will leave for Kharkhari crematorium, Haridwar, where the last rites will be performed.
