Dehradun Administration Ensures Round-the-Clock Fuel Availability During Kanwar Yatra

Fuel and LPG Supply to Remain Uninterrupted During Kanwar Yatra; Petrol Pumps to Operate 24×7 in Dehradun

LPG agencies directed to maintain adequate stock; Sunday operations made mandatory to ensure hassle-free services

Dehradun, August 1, 2026:
To ensure uninterrupted availability of petrol, diesel, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for Kanwar pilgrims and local residents during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, the Dehradun district administration has intensified its preparedness. In compliance with the directions of District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan, a coordination meeting was convened under the chairmanship of District Supply Officer K.K. Agrawal with all petrol pump operators and LPG distributors of the Rishikesh region.

Addressing the meeting, the District Supply Officer emphasized that there should be no disruption in the supply of fuel or cooking gas during the pilgrimage period. All LPG agencies were instructed to maintain sufficient stocks of both domestic and commercial cylinders and ensure timely delivery to consumers.

LPG Agencies to Remain Open on Sundays

To prevent inconvenience to pilgrims and local residents, all LPG agencies have been directed to remain operational throughout the Kanwar Yatra, including Sundays. Officials stressed that uninterrupted distribution of LPG cylinders is essential to meet the increased demand during the pilgrimage season.

Strict Safety Measures for LPG Distribution

Special emphasis was laid on maintaining safety standards during LPG transportation and distribution. The District Supply Officer directed that:

  • All LPG delivery vehicles must prominently display the agency’s banner or identification.
  • Every delivery vehicle should carry a functional fire extinguisher.
  • Weighing scales must be available in each vehicle to ensure accurate cylinder delivery.
  • Delivery personnel must wear proper uniforms and carry valid identity cards at all times.

Officials warned that negligence in complying with safety protocols would not be tolerated.

Petrol Pumps to Function Round the Clock

All petrol pump operators were instructed to maintain adequate stocks of petrol and diesel throughout the Kanwar Yatra and ensure 24×7 operations to facilitate uninterrupted fuel supply for pilgrims, emergency services, police, fire services, ambulances, and the general public.

Proposal for Night-Time Movement of Fuel Tankers

During the meeting, representatives of petrol pumps and LPG agencies suggested that fuel and LPG tankers be allowed uninterrupted movement between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM every day during the Kanwar Yatra. They stated that such an arrangement would help replenish stocks at distribution centers on time and prevent shortages.

Administration Prioritizes Essential Supplies

The district administration reiterated that ensuring continuous availability of fuel and cooking gas for pilgrims, local residents, and essential services remains a top priority during the Kanwar Yatra. Regular monitoring and coordination among the Supply Department, petroleum companies, LPG distributors, and other concerned agencies will continue throughout the pilgrimage period.

The meeting was attended by Senior Supply Inspectors Sunil Devli, Sanjeev Kumar Goyal, Aniruddh Goyal, Ashok Jain, Sunil Agrawal, Navneet Nagalia, Divambar Prasad Lakhera, Mukul Dalal, Kamal Singh, along with representatives of petrol pumps, LPG agencies, and departmental officials.
