Uttarakhand Police launches ‘Operation Prahar’ in Dehradun to curb rising crime. DGP issues strict orders for hotspot monitoring, tenant verification, and action against late-night bars and pubs.

Taking serious note of recent criminal incidents in Dehradun, the Uttarakhand government has adopted a strict stance on maintaining law and order. Under the directions of the Chief Minister, a special अभियान titled “Operation Prahar” will be launched to take strong action against criminal elements.
In this regard, a high-level meeting was held at the Police Headquarters under the chairmanship of Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth. Senior police officials were issued clear directives to strengthen law enforcement across the city.
The meeting was attended by IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop, IG STF Neelesh Anand Bharne, SSP Dehradun Pramendra Dobal, SSP STF Ajay Singh, along with other senior officers.
Key Directives Issued
- Daily Monitoring:
IG Garhwal has been instructed to ensure daily monitoring of the law and order situation in Dehradun. - Accountability of Officers:
SSP Dehradun has been directed to assign clear responsibilities to subordinate officers and ensure accountability, along with maintaining effective policing in their respective areas. - Increased Field Presence:
Circle Officers and Station House Officers (SHOs) have been asked to remain actively present in the field, increase police visibility in identified hotspots, and ensure strict checking at barriers. Special emphasis has been laid on enhancing police presence during early morning hours. - Crackdown on Criminal Elements:
IG STF and SSP STF have been directed to carry out a special अभियान targeting active criminal elements in Dehradun and take strict action against them. - Verification Drive Intensified:
A thorough verification drive will be conducted for PG accommodations, tenants, and activities in homestays, with regular monitoring to prevent misuse. - Action Against Late-Night Operations:
Strict action has been ordered against bars and pubs operating beyond permitted hours.
DGP’s Strong Message
DGP Deepam Seth emphasized that no compromise will be made on law and order in the capital city. Under “Operation Prahar,” strict and decisive action will be taken against criminals to ensure public safety.
He instructed all officers to work with full alertness, accountability, and commitment, stating that proactive policing and effective strategy are key to controlling crime and maintaining public confidence.
