DEHRADUN: The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for eight districts of Uttarakhand — Bageshwar, Champawat, Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, and Udham Singh Nagar — warning of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and intense to extremely intense showers in several parts of these regions.

Areas likely to be most affected include Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Kashipur, Kapkot, Laksar, Roorkee, Lohaghat, Chakrata, Kotdwar, Ramnagar, Lansdowne, Khatima, Chamba, Ghansali, and nearby locations.

Authorities have urged residents to stay away from rivers and streams, avoid unnecessary travel, and remain alert and safe during this period of severe weather.
