Dehradun DM Inspects Polling Booths in Sahaspur, Reviews SIR Claims and Objection Disposal Camps
Dr. Ashish Chauhan directs officials to ensure no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll

District Magistrate and District Election Officer Dr. Ashish Chauhan conducted a field inspection of various polling booths in the Sahaspur Assembly constituency on Thursday to review arrangements for special camps being held under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
During the inspection, the District Magistrate reviewed the arrangements at the camps established for the disposal of claims and objections related to the electoral roll. He directed election officials to ensure that the entire SIR process is carried out with complete transparency, impartiality and within the prescribed timelines.
Dr. Chauhan interacted with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and took information regarding the claims and objections received so far, the progress of their verification and the maintenance of relevant records. He instructed officials to examine every application in accordance with the prescribed rules and ensure its qualitative and time-bound disposal.
The District Magistrate emphasized that no eligible voter should be deprived of inclusion in the electoral roll. He said that the SIR exercise is an important component of ensuring the credibility and transparency of the electoral process, and every official must discharge their responsibilities with utmost seriousness and accountability.
He further directed officials to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India throughout the electoral roll revision process. All claims and objections must be verified objectively and factually, with no scope for negligence or unnecessary delay.
Special focus on voter convenience
Dr. Chauhan also reviewed the facilities being provided to citizens visiting the special camps. He directed officials to ensure adequate availability of all necessary forms, documents and other resources so that citizens do not face any inconvenience while submitting their claims or objections.
He instructed officials to give priority and appropriate assistance to senior citizens, persons with disabilities and women visiting the polling booths. Citizens should also be provided with clear information about the procedure for submitting claims and objections and other voter-related applications.
Daily monitoring of pending cases
The District Magistrate directed the concerned officers to ensure factual, impartial and rule-based verification of every application received during the SIR exercise. He made it clear that negligence at any level would not be tolerated.
He also instructed officials to undertake regular monitoring of the campaign and conduct daily reviews of progress, with special attention to pending cases so that they are disposed of at the earliest within the prescribed timeframe.
Dr. Chauhan stressed the need for close coordination among all election officials to ensure a transparent and credible revision of the electoral roll. He said that every effort should be made to make the process accessible to citizens while strictly adhering to the Election Commission of India’s guidelines.
City Magistrate Dehradun Rakesh Tiwari, election officials, sector magistrates, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and other concerned officials and employees were present during the inspection.
