State Disability Advisory Board Meeting: CM Dhami Directs 100% Benefit Coverage

State Government Committed to Empowering Persons with Disabilities: Dhami

Dehradun – A meeting of the State Disability Advisory Board was convened on Friday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. During the meeting, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities, stressing that addressing their issues must remain a top priority for both the government and the administration.

CM Dhami directed officials to ensure that welfare schemes and programs designed for persons with disabilities are implemented with transparency and that the beneficiaries are able to access them without difficulty. He emphasized that this section of society must receive their entitlements promptly and in full measure.

Highlighting the importance of healthcare, the Chief Minister instructed the Health Secretary to regularly organize special health camps across the state. These camps, he said, should not only provide medical treatment but also facilitate the distribution of disability certificates, prosthetic limbs, and other assistive devices directly on the spot.

The Chief Minister also directed the Social Welfare Department to act promptly on the suggestions put forward during the meeting. He reiterated that reservation provisions in government recruitment must be strictly implemented to ensure equal opportunities for persons with disabilities. Further, he emphasized that 100% coverage must be ensured under disability pensions and other social security schemes, leaving no eligible person excluded.

CM Dhami called upon all departmental secretaries to consistently monitor disability-related matters and prioritize the effective implementation of schemes tailored to this community. He remarked that persons with disabilities are an integral part of society and the government is striving to empower them with dignity and equality.

During the meeting, MLAs Bharat Chaudhary and Savita Kapoor, along with several Board members, shared valuable suggestions. The Chief Minister welcomed these inputs and urged officials to adopt a positive approach in addressing them. He stressed that the challenges faced by persons with disabilities should not be viewed merely as administrative concerns but as a humanitarian responsibility, underlining the government’s continuous efforts to work in this spirit.

The meeting was attended by MLAs, senior secretaries including Sridhar Babu Addanki, Ranjit Sinha, Chandresh Kumar, V. Shanmugam, and Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, along with Director of Social Welfare Prakash Chandra and members of the State Disability Advisory Board.
