Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday night reviewed the ongoing relief and rescue operations in Tharali (Chamoli) at the State Emergency Operation Centre, Dehradun. He directed the district administration to immediately release ₹5 lakh as assistance for families whose houses were completely damaged and an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh to the kin of those who lost their lives in the disaster.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure temporary shelters and all essential arrangements for the homeless families, along with fast-tracking the rehabilitation process. He emphasized that relief materials should be provided promptly, in one go, and with special attention to quality.
Immediate Water Drainage at Siyana Chatti
CM Dhami directed officials to make immediate arrangements for water drainage at Siyana Chatti and to restore basic facilities such as electricity, water supply, and road connectivity in the affected areas at the earliest.
Appreciation for District Administration, SDRF & NDRF
Praising the District Magistrate of Chamoli for his prompt response, effective relief management, and quick presence at the disaster site, the CM said similar coordination should be ensured in all disaster-hit regions. He also commended the SDRF and NDRF teams for their timely and efficient rescue efforts.
Committee to Study Disaster Patterns
Highlighting the recent disasters in Dharali, Saiji (Pauri), and Dharali, the Chief Minister directed the formation of a committee of experts and scientists from reputed institutions to study the disaster patterns and submit a detailed report.
Orange Alert – Districts Asked to Remain Fully Prepared
With the state under an Orange Alert for the next two days, CM Dhami instructed all District Magistrates to remain fully prepared and ensure that disaster management equipment and relief materials are pre-positioned in sensitive locations.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan, Principal Secretaries R.K. Sudhanshu, R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagauli, and other senior officials. District Magistrates of Chamoli and Uttarkashi also joined virtually.
