Three Automated Parking Lots Ready in Dehradun; First Facility Handed Over to Coronation Hospital, CM to Inaugurate Soon

Dehradun: In a significant move towards realizing Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s vision of a modern and well-equipped Uttarakhand, the Dehradun district administration has developed three state-of-the-art automated mechanical parking lots in the city. The initiative, spearheaded by District Magistrate Savin Bansal, aims to ease traffic congestion and provide efficient parking solutions in busy urban areas.

The newly constructed parking facilities are located at Coronation District Hospital, Tibetan Market, and Parade Ground. Among these, the parking facility at Coronation Hospital has become operational and has been formally handed over to the hospital administration. The system now allows hassle-free automatic parking for vehicles of doctors and nursing staff.

Parking Capacity at the Three Locations:

Tibetan Market: 132 vehicles

Parade Ground: 96 vehicles

Coronation Hospital: 18 vehicles

Designed to occupy minimal space, these modular parking systems can also be relocated as per future requirements. At Coronation Hospital, the creation of a dedicated staff parking zone has freed up additional ground space for patients and their attendants, significantly improving parking convenience within the premises.

To ensure smooth operations, two trained technical operators have been deployed at each site, with their insurance coverage to be provided under the district plan.

Officials believe this initiative could serve as a scalable model for urban traffic management. “These compact yet effective parking systems offer a practical solution to the city’s growing traffic and parking challenges,” said DM Savin Bansal. “It’s a step toward making Dehradun smarter and more organized.”

The Chief Minister is expected to inaugurate the parking lots soon. The project is also being viewed as a prototype for similar developments in other densely populated or high-traffic zones of the city.
