Dehradun, July 22: The first phase of the three-tier Panchayat elections in Uttarakhand will be held on July 24, covering three development blocks of Dehradun district—Chakrata, Kalsi, and Vikasnagar. Voting will take place at 514 polling stations, with the district administration finalizing all preparations to ensure a smooth electoral process.
For the smooth conduct of the election process, 44 polling parties from remote areas of Chakrata block were dispatched two days in advance i.e. on Tuesday. These parties have left for their destination from Asharam Vedic Inter College, Vikasnagar. At the same time, the remaining 470 polling parties will leave on July 23.
Block-wise Polling Stations:
Chakrata: 137
Kalsi: 130
Vikasnagar: 247
Polling teams sent ahead were designated for inaccessible and hilly areas such as Bhut, Chhajad-Hatad, Aithan, Patiud, Phanar, Sarni, Kistud, Kerad, Sunir, Koti Bawar, and Purtad. These locations are known for challenging terrains and limited connectivity, prompting early deployment.
The State Election Commission and District Administration have reiterated their commitment to conducting the elections in a peaceful, transparent, and timely manner.
