Dehradun: The State Election Commission has completed all preparations for the counting of votes in the three-tier Panchayat elections, scheduled to begin at 8 AM on Thursday, July 31. The counting will be held for 10,915 posts across 89 development blocks in 12 districts of Uttarakhand.

A total of 15,024 personnel will be engaged in the counting process, while 8,926 police and paramilitary personnel will be responsible for maintaining security at all counting centers.

The Commission reported that polling was held peacefully in two phases, on July 24 and 28, recording a total voter turnout of 69.16%. Notably, female voter turnout stood at 74.42%, surpassing the male turnout of 64.23%, reflecting increasing participation of women in the democratic process. Elections were conducted in all districts except Haridwar.

To ensure transparency and orderliness, the counting process will be closely monitored by observers, zonal magistrates, and police officers. Adequate barricading and security measures have been implemented at all counting venues to prevent any disruptions.

Ban on Victory Processions

In a bid to maintain public order, the Election Commission has prohibited victory processions following the announcement of results. Written instructions have been issued to all District Magistrates, mandating the deployment of senior and experienced officers as zonal magistrates, along with the presence of police officers or inspectors at each counting center.

The final results will be announced by the respective Returning Officers at the block level and published on the Commission’s official website.
