Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and CM Dhami Inaugurate ‘House of Himalayas’ Store at Jolly Grant Airport

Dehradun: In a significant step toward promoting local products and boosting the state’s economy, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the House of Himalayas store at Jolly Grant Airport on Tuesday. This initiative will make Uttarakhand’s traditional and locally-produced goods easily accessible to tourists from across India and abroad.

Speaking at the event, Union Minister Chouhan congratulated the state government on its efforts to promote indigenous products through this umbrella brand. He highlighted that the House of Himalayas stores will soon be launched at other airports as well, giving a major push to the visibility and sales of local goods. He praised the high standards of quality, packaging, and branding of the products and emphasized that they would benefit not only Uttarakhand but the entire nation.

Chouhan also announced that the Government of India will establish a Center of Excellence in Uttarakhand to support the promotion, research, and development efforts for House of Himalayas. He added that this initiative will ensure access to quality products for consumers while improving the livelihoods of local farmers and artisans.

Chief Minister Dhami stated that the new store reflects the hard work and skills of the state’s farmers, women, artisans, and small entrepreneurs. He said the initiative is aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had launched the House of Himalayas brand to promote self-reliant India (Aatmanirbhar Bharat). The state government is prioritizing local products to create employment opportunities and strengthen the local economy.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, Secretary Radhika Jha, Additional Secretaries Anuradha Pal and Manuj Goyal, Additional Commissioner of Rural Development Rajendra Singh Rawat, Chief Engineer V.V.S. Rawat, Superintending Engineer Anil Kumar, and others.
