Uttarakhand Cabinet Decisions: Key Approvals on Teacher Recruitment, Swachh Bharat Mission & More

Dehradun – The Uttarakhand state cabinet, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, held a significant meeting today that lasted nearly two hours. The cabinet gave its nod to four key proposals related to legislative proceedings, education, sanitation, and governance reforms.

CM Empowered to Decide Monsoon Session Schedule

The cabinet approved the proposal to convene the monsoon session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. Importantly, the authority to finalize the date and venue of the session has been delegated to the Chief Minister. This move is aimed at ensuring greater flexibility and responsiveness in organizing the session as per administrative and legislative needs.

Green Signal for Special Education Teacher Service Rules, 2025

In a move to strengthen inclusive education, the cabinet approved amendments to the Uttarakhand Special Education Teacher Service Rules, 2025. This decision follows the Supreme Court directive dated March 7, 2025. Earlier, on March 20, the state government had created 135 posts for special education teachers. With the latest cabinet approval, the recruitment process for these posts will now move forward, benefiting children with special needs.

Third Phase of Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) to Begin in 2026

The cabinet has authorized the Panchayati Raj Department to launch and oversee the implementation of the third phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). The scheme will be operational from April 1, 2026, and is expected to boost cleanliness and hygiene efforts in the state’s rural areas, taking forward the momentum of previous phases.

Deliberation on Single-Member Commission Report

The cabinet also reviewed the recommendations of a Cabinet Sub-Committee formed to examine the third report submitted by a Single-Member Dedicated Commission. The sub-committee’s suggestions were presented for discussion, and a comprehensive debate took place. The next steps on this front will be determined by the government based on the deliberations.
