Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Civil Aviation Conference-2025 organized in Dehradun on Friday. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, civil aviation ministers of North Indian states and senior officials were also present.
Highlighting the transformative impact of the Udan scheme under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Dhami said it has not only made air travel accessible by connecting small cities and remote regions, but also boosted the local economy.
The Chief Minister informed that Uttarakhand is currently developing 18 heliports, with services already operational at 12. He termed heli services a “lifeline” for hilly states, underlining their critical role in disaster management, health services and pilgrimage.
On this occasion, Dhami urged the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to formulate a separate ‘mountain aviation policy’ for hilly states. He suggested that this policy should include provisions for special financial assistance, subsidies, dedicated mountain ATC networks, accurate weather forecasting systems, slotting and pre-disaster preparedness.
He also appealed to all operators to ensure special pilot training for mountain flights, adhere to stringent safety norms and prioritize passenger safety.
The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, Rajasthan’s Gautam Kumar, Haryana’s Vipul Goyal, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan and officials from various states.
