DM Savin Bansal Treks 12 Km to Reach Disaster-Hit Phulet, Listens to Villagers’ Grievances.

 

DM Savin Bansal Walks 2.5 Hours to Phulet, Promises Compensation and Rapid Restoration.

 

Dehradun. Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, District Magistrate Savin Bansal on Friday reached the disaster-affected remote villages of Phulet and Chhamroli after covering nearly 40 km by road and trekking 12 km on foot along narrow trails. The DM was accompanied by the entire administrative team and interacted directly with the affected people in Phulet, Chhamroli, Simyari, Silla, Kyari, and Sirona villages.

The DM reassured the villagers that the entire administration stands firmly with them in this hour of crisis and every possible relief and rehabilitation measure will be ensured. For the first time since Independence, a DM reached these villages, leaving the residents emotional and grateful.

Shared Meal with Villagers, Promised Full Support

Accepting the villagers’ request, DM Bansal sat down to share a meal with them, reiterating that the government and administration would extend all possible help. He directed officials to accelerate damage assessment and ensure prompt compensation distribution.

Key Directives from the DM 

👉🏻 Damage Assessment & Compensation: Tehsildar, block-level officers, agriculture and horticulture officials, engineers from PWD and Irrigation Department will remain stationed in the villages until the last affected family receives compensation.

👉🏻 Structural Damage Report: PWD engineers were instructed to submit a technical report on house damages the same day.

👉🏻 Pathway Restoration: PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) was granted on-the-spot budget approval to restore pedestrian paths blocked by debris, with immediate commencement of work.

👉🏻 Road Connectivity: Instructions were issued to deploy JCBs and heavy machinery from both sides to restore the Maldevta–Serki–Silla–Chhamroli–Phulet motor road at the earliest.

👉🏻 Education Facilities: The DEO and BEO were asked to inspect primary schools in Chhamroli and Raika Bhagdwara Khal to address issues of damaged pathways, toilets, drinking water, and shortage of teachers.

👉🏻 Irrigation & Water Supply: Quick restoration of irrigation canals, guls, and drinking water pipelines was ordered.

👉🏻 Ration Supply: The DM assured villagers that ration will reach fair price shops in Phulet and Chhamroli within a couple of days via helicopter or mule transport.

Farmers’ Concerns Highlighted

Villagers reported heavy losses to cash crops such as turmeric, ginger, chilies, and peas. With damaged roads blocking transport to the markets, farmers are suffering severe financial setbacks. The DM instructed officials to complete assessment of damaged agricultural routes within two days and ensure funds are released for their repair.

Emotional Response from Villagers

Residents shared that in Paliya Sera Tok, cracks have appeared in four houses while many fields have been washed away. They expressed deep gratitude to the administration for standing by them in this difficult time.

The inspection was attended by Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Joint Magistrate Harshita, District Development Officer Sunil Kumar, Executive Engineer (Power) Rakesh Kumar, and officials from PWD, PMGSY, and block-level departments.
