Uttarakhand Govt Grants ₹5 Lakh Each to 98 Dharali Disaster-Affected Families

Swift action on CM Dhami’s instructions; a major step towards rehabilitation

This is only the first phase of the relief process: Dhami

The Uttarakhand Government has provided immediate financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each to 98 disaster-affected families in Dharali. The cheques were distributed by Gangotri MLA Mr. Suresh Singh Chauhan.

On August 5, a devastating natural disaster struck the districts of Uttarkashi and Pauri, causing widespread destruction. Heavy rainfall, landslides, and debris flow destroyed several houses, damaged infrastructure, and left affected families in severe distress. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami promptly visited the disaster site to assess the situation and announced immediate assistance of ₹5 lakh for each affected family.

On Monday, under this announcement, 98 families in Dharali received relief cheques. The assistance aims to provide an initial support for the victims, enabling them to meet their basic needs during this difficult period and begin the path to rehabilitation.

CM Dhami said this is only the first phase of the relief process. To assess the damage to houses, homestays, livestock, and orchards, the State Government has formed a three-member committee that will submit a detailed report within seven days. Based on this report, a comprehensive relief and rehabilitation package will be prepared to provide long-term support to the affected families.

Expressing solidarity, the CM said, “The people living in disaster-affected areas are part of my family. In this difficult time, my government and I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them. Reconstruction and rehabilitation work will be carried out on priority so that all affected can return to normal life as soon as possible.”

Local public representatives, administrative officials, and residents were present at the occasion and expressed gratitude to the State Government for its swift relief measures.
