Uttarakhand Declares Public Holiday for Women Employees on Karwa Chauth on October 29
State government approves a holiday for women personnel working in government and non-government offices, educational institutions and government establishments
Dehradun, October 28, 2026: The Uttarakhand government has declared a public holiday on Thursday, October 29, 2026, for women employees working in government and non-government offices, educational institutions and government establishments under the state government on the occasion of Karwa Chauth.
The General Administration Department of the Uttarakhand government issued an official notification on Wednesday, October 28, following the Governor’s approval for the declaration of the holiday across the state.
According to the notification, the holiday will apply to women personnel employed in government and non-government offices, educational institutions and government establishments under the Uttarakhand state government.
The decision will allow eligible women employees to observe the Karwa Chauth festival while availing themselves of the declared holiday.
The notification, numbered 1501/XXXI (15) G/26-74 (General)/2016, was issued on October 28, 2026, and signed by Rajendra Kumar, Secretary.
