Dehradun: In a significant move aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of journalists, on Monday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed officials to organise a special medical camp exclusively for members of the media in Uttarakhand.
Highlighting the crucial role journalists play in society, the Chief Minister said they consistently work in the public interest, often in challenging conditions. Recognising this, he emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring their health and welfare.
To implement this initiative, CM Dhami has directed Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar and Director General, Information, Banshidhar Tiwari, to coordinate efforts and ensure all necessary arrangements are made. The Chief Minister has clearly instructed that the camp must include a range of medical specialists and provide comprehensive health check-ups and consultations.
He further stated that such camps will not be a one-time initiative but will be held periodically to offer continuous healthcare support to journalists across the state.
In line with these directives, Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar has asked Dr. Ashutosh Sayana, Director of Medical Education, to take immediate action. It has been confirmed that the upcoming camp will be set up at the premises of the Information Department and is expected to be held soon.
This initiative reflects the state government’s recognition of the indispensable role of media professionals and its commitment to their well-being.
