Newly appointed Director General of Police Deepam Seth made a courtesy call on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday, 26 November.
DEHRADUN: While congratulating Director General of Police Deepam Seth, the Chief Minister said that along with law and order in the state, the police has to be taken towards smart policing. He said that along with the empowerment of the police, they also have to be connected through advanced technology. The resolution of the state government is to make Uttarakhand drug free, in which the police has an important role. He said that a rapid campaign has to be run against drug addiction in the society. And drug mafia and smugglers have to be put in jail. Along with this, special attention has to be given to traffic safety.
It may be known that 1995 batch IPS Deepam Seth has been appointed the 13th new DGP of the state on 25 November. A notification to this effect was issued by the state administration on Monday.
IPS Abhinav Kumar, who was looking after the responsibility of DGP in charge in the state till now, has now been given the responsibility of ADG Prison Administration. While Vimala Gunjyal, who was working on this post, has been sent to the post of Inspector General Vigilance.
After taking charge, DGP Deepam Seth, while listing his priorities, said that work will be done to improve law and order in the state. He said that the trust of law abiding people on the police department and fear in the mind of criminals will be the priority. On traffic, the DGP said that an action plan will be prepared for traffic management. Effective steps will be taken to stop the increasing road accidents.
